Good Health & The Plant-based Gut Microbiome Connection

What we consume each day always matters. We must remember that good health starts in our gut microbiome systems and many who are unaware of the importance of a healthy gut system now suffer with microbial dysbiosis. As such, mental health which is on the rise and has significantly been linked to poor eating habits as these habits causes inflamed brains starts in the gut systems as well.

There are many other chronic disease labels that have been linked to a poor gut system. In as such, a plant-based gut system as we look across studies reveals the intestinal microbial profile that displays a gut system that is very different from that of meat consumers, though plant-based consumer profiles are not always significantly different from that of vegetarians.

There is a uniqueness in a plant-based only consumer’s profile which has several positive characteristics. These positive characteristics include a reduced abundance of pathobionts and a larger amount of protective species. Plant-based consumers also display lower levels of inflammation believed to be a key advantage over meat consumers. This advantage links the plant-based consumer to a gut microbiota with protective health effects.

As such, the use of a plant-based diet from recent studies reveal benefits as it provides a diverse gut microbial system and an even distribution of different gut species. This diversity promotes better health as our gut system is connected to all organs within our bodies. In closing, we must eat to good health using a plant-based lifestyle to come away from a slew of chronic diseases that we thought we had to live with in this life time.
